Singer/Songwriters Kipyn Martin & Allison Shapira @ Casa Phoenix Sunday night Aug. 30th

Wine, Dine, and Song this Sunday night in Northwest DC

Kipyn Martin (Washington Area Music Association New Artist of the Year) and “recovering opera singer” Allison Shapira will perform an intimate house concert Sunday evening August 30th, 7:00 pm at Casa Phoenix (1307 Corcoran St. NW).

Kipyn Martin is an emerging Americana singer/songwriter whose roots sink deep into the banks of the Shenandoah River. Accolades for Kipyn include being named a Showcase Artist at the 2014 Southeast/Northeast Regional Folk Alliance (SNERFA) conference and winning Gold Awards in the two most recent Mid-Atlantic Song Contests for her original compositions ”Nightbird” and ”Dance Across the Sky”.

With a voice described as “simultaneously rich, honeyed, dense, and altogether quite beautiful,” Allison Shapira is a trained opera singer inspired by Joan Baez and Judy Collins. In the summer of 2012 Allison left her job in Boston and went to Europe with a travel guitar. She subsequently performed in four countries before returning to the U.S. to release her first original album “Coming Home”. Allison lives and performs in the DC area although she is known overseas as “Allison from Boston”.

Allison and Kipyn recently formed the acclaimed duo Joan & Joni, a musical tribute to Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell which premiered to a sold-out DC audience in January 2015. Kipyn and Allison will be sprinkling the evening with Joan Baez and Joni Mitchell songs among their original tunes.

Tickets ($20 advance, $25 door) include dinner/drinks/performance and are available through Brown Paper Tickets:
