Snow Timeline for Winter Storm in Georgetown

Northern Virginia and Washington, D.C., woke up Tuesday with no hint of frost on the ground — but promises from forecasters of 5-10 inches of snow by the end of the day.

"Expect the height of the storm from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. — about 5 inches — with the snowfall gradually coming to an end by midnight," NBC reports.
Here's the National Weather Service snowfall timeline for Reagan National Airport:
- From 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., snowfall may reach 1.5 inches.
- From 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., snowfall amounts may reach 4 inches. Total projected snowfall of 5.5 inches.
- From 6 p.m. until midnight, the snow eases up, with less than an inch of additional accumulation possible. Total projected snowfall of 6.3 inches.
And The Washington Post's Capital Weather Gang notes that there's also a Wind Chill Advisory that will be rolling in as the sun sets Tuesday night with wind chills between -5 and -15 in the region.
