Storm Prep: DC to Hand Out Shovels to Resident Snow Team

You may be exempt from sidewalk shoveling enforcement if you live in your own home and are 65 years old or a person with a disability.

WASHINGTON, DC -- If the forecast proves correct, DC will be seeing quite a bit of snow this weekend.

Got your snow shovel handy? All residential and commercial property owners in DC must remove snow/ice from the sidewalks around their property within the first eight hours of daylight after the storm ends.

On Wednesday, District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser will be helping give out shovels to members of the city’s Resident Snow Team, which helps elderly and disabled residents who need help shoveling walkways during the winter. The mayor plans to give out shovels at the Franklin D. Reeves Municipal Center, 2000 14th St. NW, in northwest Washington at 10:30 a.m.
