In the isolation of quarantine, the experience of creating music builds community. Russell Weismann, Georgetown’s director of music and campus ministry for Catholic life, brought Georgetown students together in a creative, Zoom-based project through a virtual choir. Weismann compiled 53 individual tracks over 80 production hours into a rendition of “These Alone Are Not Enough” for the Baccalaureate Mass in May 2020. “Even though we’re not physically present on campus, we are very much still together,” he says. Listen to Weismann’s interview and a sample of the choir’s performance above, or the performance in its entirety.
