Study: DC Ranked Third Healthiest City in the Nation

DC ranks as the third healthiest city in the country, according to findings by a company that helps consumers find doctors in their neighborhoods.
BetterDoctor.com, a free consumer healthcare tool for finding a doctor, evaluated cities across the country based on the following health criteria:
- Exercise Rates: Population data about physical fitness (exercise rates, eating habits, chronic health problems and disease rates, access to parks and recreational activities, and more).
- Percentage of Highly Rated Doctors: The percentage of doctors in the state that are highly rated according to BetterDoctor’s comprehensive, seven-variable algorithm.
- Number of Residents with Health Insurance: The percentage of residents with health insurance coverage to assess how feasible it is for residents to get medical care.
Georgetown offers plenty of ways to exercise, including running and cycling on the C&O Canal Tow Path. The trail starts at the C&O Canal Visitors Center in Georgetown.

There are several health clubs and yoga hot spots in Georgetown, including: Georgetown Yoga, CorePower Yoga, Yoga del Sol and Down Dog Power Yoga.
The area is also home to healthy eating — you can find farmers markets, including a year-round market every Thursday from 3:30-6:30 p.m. at the Georgetown Church of Christ parking lot.
