Suspect in Fluorescent Vest Robs DC Bank Tuesday: FBI

Incident took place on U Street NW, according to officials.

A bank was robbed Tuesday on U Street NW near the Shaw neighborhood in DC (see map), according to the FBI.

A black male robbed the SunTrust Bank, located at 1250 U St. NW, at approximately 12:21 p.m., according to officials. The suspect passed a note to a teller demanding money, the FBI said in a bulletin issued Tuesday afternoon.

The suspect is described by the FBI as a black man wearing a lime-green fluorescent vest with an “H” on the back over a dark-colored long-sleeved jacket, light-colored blue jeans, a khaki-colored fisherman’s hat with a black and gold band and white gloves.

The subject exited the bank and fled on foot in an unknown direction, according to the FBI.

The FBI is offering a reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to the identification, arrest and conviction of this bank robber. The FBI/MPD Violent Crimes Task Force is investigating this robbery and requests that anyone with information call the FBI at 202-278-2000 or MPD’s tip line at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the police department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.
