Sutherland Raises More Than $42,000 for Gifts for the Homeless; Wins 2015 Battle of the Law Firm Bands

News regarding Sutherland's win at the Battle of the Law Firm Bands, and the $42,000 the firm raised towards Gifts for the Homeless, Inc.

WASHINGTON (June 30, 2015)—Sutherland Asbill & Brennan LLP is pleased to announce that its D.C.-based house band, Sutherland Comfort, won the “Banding Together Champion” title during the 2015 Battle of the Law Firm Bands, a fundraiser to benefit Gifts for the Homeless, Inc. (GFTH). On July 18, eighteen bands representing local law firms took the stage at the Black Cat, energizing the U Street corridor during this twelfth annual event.

To secure the win, Sutherland raised more than $42,000 in votes, with $1 buying one vote. The event raised more than $270,000 for GFTH. All proceeds will be used to purchase essential clothing items for homeless men, women and children. The clothing will be distributed among metro-area shelters.

“It is an honor to support Gifts for the Homeless, whose programs make a meaningful impact in our community, and this is a wonderful event at which the audience and the bands have an incredible amount of fun,” said Carol A. Weiser, partner and GFTH board member. “I am very proud of Sutherland’s long-standing tradition of supporting GFTH and especially the amazing efforts from everyone throughout the firm who helped Sutherland Comfort bring home the championship trophy this year.”
