Worldwide pop star Taylor Swift brings her 1989 World Tour to DC for two sold-out shows Monday and Tuesday night at Nationals Park.
Will there be any special guests at her DC shows? At her concert Saturday night in East Rutherford, N.J. at Met Life Stadium, singer Nick Jonas joined her onstage, according to Swift’s Facebook page. At the two-night show there, some of her friends also showed up, including model Gigi Hadid and HBO’s Lena Dunham, as well as members of the women’s U.S. soccer team.
Look for Swift to connect with the audience (super fans are called “Swifties”) about the meaning of the songs, many based on her personal life. Here’s one of her lines that got “one of the biggest roars of the night,” Rolling Stone said in a review of her Jersey concert:
“If I had my way, everything would be simple for all of you. I wish nobody would ever mess with your mind. I wish nobody would wait two days to text you back, when you know they had their phone with them the whole time!”
The singer/songwriter, a seven-time Grammy winner, including being the youngest performer to win a Grammy for Album of the Year, was born in Reading, Penn. in 1989.
Here’s what she says about her album “1989”:
“I’ve told you my stories for years now,” she says on her Web site. “Some have been about coming of age. Some have been about coming undone. This is a story about coming into your own, and as a result…Coming alive.”
For the Nats Park concerts, the parking lots open at 4 p.m. (we hear all parking spaces are spoken for so check ahead) gates will open at 5 p.m. and the show will start at 7 p.m. Not driving? Get there by Metro. Other important things to remember if you’re heading to the show:

- Check the weather and dress appropriately: Flat shoes are recommended. The field cover can be uneven to walk on with heels or flip flops. Bring a poncho or other rain gear. Small purse umbrellas will be allowed inside the ballpark.
