The Key To Getting My Preschooler To Nap

There were a few weeks where Flash only napped 50% of the time. I would be much more forgiving if he wasn't irritable and hyper come six o'clock. I realize he's three, and the time will come that my, I mean, his precious nap time will end. But when I know he needs a nap, it's hard to let it go.

The other day, I decided to give the boys a bath before nap time because I knew Husband was going to be very tired that night (he has bathing duty). It was Flash's sixth or seventh day of not napping, and I expected nothing. Well... that day there was just silence coming from his room. He napped! I'm unsure whether it's the entire bedtime routine of bath AND story that did the trick, or if it was the bath itself. My mom always told me how soothing and sleep-inducing baths are. I don't know that there is any research to back that up, but she swore by it. The day after bath day, Flash napped on his own.

I tell you that ever since then this trick has worked. Whenever I want him to nap, I bubble him up. However, I think this only works because he isn't fully ready to drop his nap. Have you tried this? Am I the last to get the memo on this tip?
