Barricade Situation Ends Peacefully in Georgetown: Report

Streets around 3000 K Street Northwest were shut down during the busy evening commute.

WASHINGTON, DC -- A barricade situation involving a distraught man ended peacefully Monday night at about 10:15 p.m. in Georgetown, according to a report by NBC-4.

DC Police were investigating the situation during the Monday evening rush hour in Georgetown, where a man was holed up in an office at 3000 K St. NW near the waterfront (see map below), according to DC Police spokesman, Officer Hugh Carew. He had reportedly refused to leave his office beginning sometime in the afternoon.

Carew said he did not know if the man had a weapon.

The following streets were shut down at about 5:45 p.m., he said, while officers investigated the barricade situation:

  • K Street
  • Wisconsin southbound at M Street
  • 29th at M Street
  • 30th at M Street

A DC Police SWAT team was on the scene.

NBC4 said the main was to be evaluated after surrendering to police.
