Traffic Advisory: Lane Closures In Georgetown Area

Multiple lanes on Foxhall and Canal roads will be closed to traffic, so crews can resurface the roadways. Motorists should expect delays.

GEORGETOWN, MD — Starting on or around June 12, multiple lanes on Foxhall and Canal roads will be closed to traffic, so crews can resurface the roadways, according to the District Department of Transportation.

"The District Department of Transportation (DDOT) is scheduled to temporarily close lanes of traffic on Foxhall Road from MacArthur Boulevard to Canal Road NW and Canal Road from Foxhall Road to Whitehurst Freeway NW starting on or about Wednesday, June 12, 2019, weather permitting," transportation officials said.

Crews will be working Mondays through Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., and from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. Work will also be done on Saturdays from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Officials say that at least one lane will be open to traffic at all times.

Construction is expected to be completed by July 3, weather permitting.

The DDOT says motorists should anticipate moderate delays.
