Gas Leaks Shuts Down Portion of Wisconsin Avenue Thursday
Gas leak at apartment construction site caused a temporary evacuation at Whole Foods.
Wisconsin Avenue shut down temporarily Thursday in both directions while a gas leak was repaired, according to the Metropolitan Area Transportation Operations Coordination program.
The area shut down was between the CVS store to Calvert Street near the gas station, according to an employee at the nearby Whole Foods store.
The Whole Foods was temporarily shut down Thursday morning due to the gas leak, after construction workers hit a gas line near the store, according to Mike in the store’s customer service department.

At noon, the store was open, after it was aired out, he said. The store is located at 2323 Wisconsin Ave. NW in DC.
Construction is going on nearby for a new apartment building where a hardware store used to be located and construction workers reportedly hit a gas line, he noted.

Emergency personnel closed off Wisconsin Avenue until noon, while the gas leak was fixed.
