Trash Collection Starting at 6 a.m. Thursday, Friday

Earlier times coincide with sliding schedule from Memorial Day holiday.

The DC Department of Public Works (DPW) trash collection crews will hit the streets starting at 6 a.m. Thursday and Friday because of predicted 90 degrees and above temperatures and unhealthy air quality. The 6 a.m. change impacts Glover Park and Burleith residents, who usually have their trash collected once a week on Thursdays but instead have collection Friday because of the holiday.

DPW's policy is that workers begin their work at 6 a.m. when the temperature and heat index are predicted to be 90 degrees or higher or the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments announces unhealthy air quality to avoid health or environmental issues.
