GEORGETOWN, DC — Two Georgetown restaurants landed on Eater's list of hottest January 2019 restaurants in the D.C. metro area.
The list, released on Jan. 3, features a total of 14 dining destinations — most of them are in the District. The Georgetown eateries that made the cut: The Berliner and Reverie.
At spot number nine is The Berliner, a modern beer hall located in a converted warehouse at 3401 Water St. NW. The German-style eatery, which opened last December, is the latest concept for The Popal Group, a family-run restaurant enterprise in D.C. The group is also behind other popular restaurants in the District, including Cafe Bonaparte, Lapis Bistro, Lapop, and the former Napoleon Bistro.

Inspired by family and modern Berlin comfort food, the menu features authentic dishes, such as bratwurst, homemade pretzels with beer cheese, and schnitzel. The lineup also includes kofta kebabs and falafel.
Reverie claims the tenth spot on Eater's list of hottest restaurants. The modern American eatery is located at 3201 Cherry Hill Lane, in the heart of historic Georgetown. For Executive Chef Johnny Spero, Reverie was a project two-and-a-half years in the making. It opened its doors last October.

Dishes include scallop crudo with buttermilk, dill, and dried scallop; roast duck with licorice, fennel, and beet; and lovage with grantia, compote, and elderflower.
In addition, the restaurant offers two "pay-what-you-can" seats each night. Diners set the price for their meal. Drinks, however, aren't included.
"Whatever you can put on a check, or whatever you feel the experience is worth, you can do that," Spero said, according to Eater.
