Vote Planned on Illegal Immigrants and DC Driver's Licenses

Opposition from immigrants who would get special markings on their licenses.

Illegal immigrants could be allowed to get special DC driver's licenses under a vote  scheduled for Tuesday by the Dc Council.

WTOP reports not everybody is happy about the proposal — including some illegal immigrants.

Their opposition stems from markings on the license that would make them look different from standard licenses, and they couldn't be used for federal purposes such as entry onto airplanes.

Cesar Vargas, who came to the United States from Mexico when he was 5, told WTOP the licenses come with a stigma.
