Walmart Hiring Approximately 300 Associates for New Fort Totten Walmart Supercenter

Hiring Center Opens to Recruit and Hire New Associates

Washington, DC, July 6, 2015 – Walmart will hire approximately 300 associates to work at the new Walmart Supercenter slated to open this fall near Fort Totten in Washington, DC. A hiring center opened on July 6th at 7818 Eastern Avenue, NW for candidates who need access to computers for the online application, prepare for the interview process, and receive training.

According to Store Manager Paul Hill, the store will be hiring both full- and part-time associates. The company offers qualified full- and part-time associates benefits such as healthcare, dental, and vision plans, 401(k) with a company match, quarterly store-performance based cash bonuses, and a discount card that helps them save 10% on many purchases at any Walmart store.

Equally important is the opportunity to grow with Walmart. More than 75% of Walmart’s store management teams started out as hourly associates and, with Walmart’s commitment to associate opportunity, the company has a training program that creates clear career paths for associates so they know what is expected of them in order to move from entry level positions to jobs with more responsibility.

“I can honestly say that Walmart’s company culture, basic beliefs and fundamental values have made me stronger - not just in my career path, but in all aspects of my life - and I look forward to welcoming a new group of associates into that community and helping them explore their potential,” said Hill. “We are excited to bring this new store near Fort Totten, and look forward to building our team of associates.”

Hill started with Walmart almost six years ago as an hourly associate, working in the electronics department in Harrisburg, PA. Once hired, his store manager quickly recognized Hill’s potential and he was promoted rapidly through the ranks. Encouraged to explore managerial opportunities, Hill became a Store Manager of a Walmart store in Alexandria, VA. There, he continued to excel in leadership roles and was selected to be the Store Manager of Washington, DC’s newest Walmart location at Fort Totten.
