Ward 2 State of the Schools Meeting Wednesday

Councilmember Jack Evans and Chancellor Kaya Henderson will speak at the event

Ward 2 Councilmember Jack Evans and Chancellor Kaya Henderson will offer updates on the state of Ward 2's public schools and talk about their future during a meeting Wednesday evening.

Principals from neighborhood schools will also be on hand to answer questions, including 's Dana Nerenberg.

Nerenberg spoke briefly at the Georgetown Advisory Neighborhood Commission meeting about the new gymnasium and library coming to the small Georgetown campus.

This summer they will be forming the school improvement team —made up of staff, administrators and community leaders— to advise the construction process. Nerenberg said she hoped construction could begin in a year's time.

The Ward 2 event begins at 5 p.m. with a Principal Meet & Greet. The program will follow and the event will end at 7 p.m. The meeting is at the Francis-Stevens Education Campus at 2425 N St. NW. Childcare will be provided.
