WATCH: Washington Monument Camera Shows 'Fireball' Meteor in Thursday Night Sky

An EarthCam located on the Washington Monument in Washington, D.C. caught a glimpse of a bright meteor Thursday night streaking across the skies of Northern Virginia, according to a video posted on Facebook by NASA Meteor Watch.

The bright meteor was seen over West Virginia last night at 9:27 ET, moving west to east. It was seen across Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia, North Carolina, and Maryland, according to NASA Meteor Watch.

The American Meteor Society received over 20 reports about the bright meteor, and they noted that it might have been a fireball.

Also in the video, you can see an airplane in the lower left corner about to land at Reagan National Airport, across the Potomac River. The brightly lit Lincoln Memorial is seen in the middle of the video. Watch it here:
