UPDATE: Weather Alert for District of Columbia

National Weather Service issues advisory Wednesday morning for area.

UPDATE, 11 a.m.: The advisory has been extended to 2 p.m. Thursday, according to this alert sent out by the District of Columbia:

National Weather has issued a coastal flood advisory for the District until Thursday, September 11th at 2pm. The District should anticipate minor shoreline inundation. Please clear all drains and catch basins to prevent flooding and avoid driving through high standing water.

The National Weather Service Wednesday morning has extended a Coastal Flood Advisory for DC and parts of Northern Virginia:

“Coastal flood advisory remains in effect until 11 am Wednesday. The tidal anomaly is around a foot above normal. Expected impacts include minor shoreline inundation. A coastal flood advisory indicates that onshore winds and tides will combine to generate flooding of low areas along the shore.”
