Weekend Metro Work May Cause Delays: Dec. 15 - 16

If you're taking the Metro this weekend, you should get to the station early and plan accordingly.

WASHINGTON, DC — There's plenty to see in the D.C. metro area this weekend — including Pop Georgetown, Winter Walk of Lights, AF POP UP, and a Holiday Market.

If you're thinking of taking the Metro on Saturday, Dec. 15 or Sunday, Dec. 16, you might want to get to the station early. Service changes may cause some delays. Here's everything you need to know before heading out for the weekend:

Red Line trains will run every 18 minutes between Shady Grove and Glenmont, and every 9 minutes between Farragut North and Silver Spring during the day.

Red Line trains will single-track between Van Ness-UDC and Friendship Heights.

The Blue Line will operate on a normal Saturday schedule, but every 20 minutes on Sunday. From 10 p.m. Saturday until closing Sunday, trains will single-track between Pentagon City and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

On Saturday, the Yellow Line will run on a normal schedule. But after 10 p.m., trains will only travel between Huntington and Mt Vernon Square. Metro riders going to and from stations north of Mt Vernon Square should use the Green Line.

Yellow Line trains will run every 20 minutes between Huntington and Greenbelt on Sunday.

From 10 p.m. Saturday until closing Sunday, Yellow Line trains will single-track between Pentagon City and Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport.

The Orange, Silver, and Green line trains will operate on a regular weekend schedule.
