What Are the Chances for Snow on Sunday?

If you live in New York, pretty good. What about the DC metro area?

While most people will be hunkered down watching the Super Bowl on Sunday, some people (possibly hoping for a snow day on Monday?) will be looking toward the skies to see what’s in store weatherwise for DC and Northern Virginia after some talk of snow in the Sunday forecast this week.

A meteorologist for the National Weather Service said Friday afternoon that DC and Northern Virginia will see “at most” 1 inch of snow on Sunday. The snow could either turn to rain or a wintry mix, said meteorologist Andy Woodcock.

“If it happens, and that’s a big if,” he said, look for snow or a wintry mix in mid to late-afternoon, likely around 3 pm. Sunday.

Anyone on the road should take heed though. Woodcock said that the heaviest snow will be to the north from Pennsylvania to Long Island PA-LI, southern NE, 6-10 inches;

The Capital Weather Gang says those who commute should consider bringing home the work laptop Friday afternoon, “just in case.”
