Woman, 21, Charged with First-Degree Murder of DC Lawyer
Police arrested Jamyra Gallmon Wednesday afternoon. Police tell the Washington Post motive was robbery in death of David Messerschmitt.

Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch announced Wednesday that they have made an arrest in the stabbing death of 30 year-old David Messerschmitt, who was found on Tuesday, Feb. 10, 2015, shortly after 11 a.m. His wife reported him missing Tuesday, Feb. 10, at 1:50 a.m.
On Wednesday, April 1, at approximately 3:30 p.m., members of the homicide branch arrested 21 year-old Jamyra Gallmon of Southeast Washington, D.C., charging her with First Degree Felony Murder While Armed in connection to the homicide of David Messerschmitt. Police have not yet said if she is the person of interest in videos and photos released by police, of a person shown at the hotel where Messerschmitt was found.

Two law enforcement officials told the Washington Post investigators believe the motive for the killing was robbery.
Gallmon is expected to appear before a judge at D.C. Superior Court on Thursday.

The widow of DC lawyer David Messerschmitt had held a news conference in DC recently, hoping someone would come forward with some answers about her husband’s murder. Messerschmitt was found dead in a room at a luxury hotel Feb. 10 after he was stabbed in the back, according to police.
A video and photos of a woman seen at the hotel the night before the murder were released by police. Widow Kim Voung said at a news conference that she was stepping forward in hopes that someone would recognize the woman and contact police.
The high-profile crime included lurid details, from police records: Blood was found on the walls, door and floor, and police also found lubricant, a condom, a computer, Messerschmitt’s cellphone and other items, radio station WTOP reported.
Messerschmitt worked as a Technology & Commercial Transactions attorney at DLA Piper, according to his profile on LinkedIn.
