Woman Who Abandoned Baby was High on Synthetic Marijuana: Report
Baby, 10 months, was found by itself in a stroller on a DC street this week.

DC Police say that the woman who abandoned a baby in a stroller on a DC street this week was high on synthetic marijuana, according to a report by The Washington Post.
Latonya Cooper, 24, left a 10-month old baby in a stroller; police have not said what the relationship was between Cooper and the baby.
Police kept the baby company after finding the infant sitting in the stroller on the sidewalk.

Cooper has been charged with second-degree cruelty to a child.
According to the American Association of Poison Control Centers, these synthetic drugs can be extremely dangerous and addictive. Health effects from the drug can be life-threatening and can include:

- Severe agitation and anxiety.
- Fast, racing heartbeat and higher blood pressure.
- Nausea and vomiting.
- Muscle spasms, seizures, and tremors.
- Intense hallucinations and psychotic episodes.
- Suicidal and other harmful thoughts and/or actions.
Mayor Bowser has said she is not just worried about health problems. She is worried about what people may do on the drugs.
“People are calling it synthetic marijuana and it couldn’t be further from that,” Bowser said, in a recent report by FOX 5. “We know that these synthetic drugs that people are smoking actually have hallucinogenic impacts more similar to PCP and it’s very dangerous.”
The Drug Enforcement Administration has banned ingredients used in synthetic marijuana, but manufacturers have swapped out ingredients to get around the law.
