Work Continues on 'New' Shell Gas Station
Shell gas is taking over at 1576 Wisconsin Ave. where a fire ripped through the Georgetown Auto Shop and Washingtonian gas station.
Construction continues on the Shell gas station coming to 1576 Wisconsin Ave. NW, which used to be the Georgetown Auto Shop and Washingtonian gas station before a March 2011 fire.
Patch first reported that Shell was coming to the site in September.
The station sat untouched for more than a year before the new owner Roland Joun went before the Georgetown Advisory Neighborhood Commission in September seeking permits.

"I know it's been an eyesore and we really want to get it up to par," Joun said at the time.
Since then the owners have received permits to make the space usable once more. But the new station will not look much different from the old station.

Permits so far have been strictly to replace the roof, store front and garage doors, "in kind."
