Worker Injured at National African American Museum Dies: Reports

Man, 50, died at a local hospital from injuries sustained in some sort of accident at the construction site for the museum.

A worker injured Wednesday while working on the National African American History Museum Wednesday has died, according to WUSA, which confirmed the news from Clark Construction.

City rescue crews were dispatched to the site at about 1 p.m., to the corner of 14th Street and Constitution Avenue NW in downtown Washington, D.C. earlier Wednesday afternoon. They could be seen with long ladders trying to rescue the man from the roof.

The 50-year-old man died from his injuries at a local hospital, the TV station reports.

The subcontractor worked for Clark/Smoot/Russell — the general contractor at the museum, according to a report by WTOP.

The museum is located on the National Mall near the Washington Monument and across the street from the National Museum of American History and the Commerce Department.
