For Your Eyes Only gala has a mission to save sight

29th Annual Night of Vision will honor community members, support local vision programs

The Prevention of Blindness Society of Metropolitan Washington® (POB) will host the 29th Annual Night of Vision® gala on Saturday, March 21 at the Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown.

The event’s theme, For Your Eyes Only, ties in elements of the James Bond spy series throughout décor, music, a 150-piece silent auction and a top-secret master of ceremonies. Guests will have the opportunity to take home autographed photos and Celebrity Specs®– or celebrity eyeglasses – from 007 series stars such as Judi Dench and Bond girls Tanya Roberts and Eva Green. A special set of eyeglasses donated by 1960s Bond actor Sean Connery will also be on display before moving to its permanent location in POB’s new headquarters on Capitol Hill this summer.

POB is proud to honor two distinguished guests at the 2015 Night of Vision. The organization will present the Professional Service Award to local ophthalmologist Wendy Gasch, M.D., for her commitment to enhancing the lives of individuals with vision problems.

POB will also present the Community Service Award to District of Columbia resident and long-time volunteer Gloria Butland, who has given her time and talents to support the Society for the last 15 years.

The Night of Vision includes dinner, live and silent auctions and dancing to the music of Retrospect. All event proceeds will benefit POB’s local sight-saving programs.
