10-Year-Old Boy Shot In Southeast DC: Police

Police seek the public's assistance in identifying the person who shot and injured a 10-year-old boy in Southeast Washington.

WASHINGTON, DC — Police seek the public's assistance in identifying the person who shot and injured a 10-year-old boy in Southeast Washington Monday.

Police were called to the 2300 block of Hartford St. for the report of a shooting just after 10 p.m. Monday night.

Responding officers located the juvenile male suffering from a non-life threatening gunshot wound, police said. The victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment.

The boy's mother told Fox 5 her son and his friend were walking a dog in the area when he was shot in the stomach. The boy is going into the fifth grade at Imagine Hope Community Charter School in Northeast Washington, his mother said.

Detectives released surveillance video that shows the person of interest walking on the sidewalk and a dirt path up the stairs at the apartment complex.
