Northeast Man Charged In December 2021 Fatal Shooting Of Davon Childs Of Hyattsville

D.C. homicide detectives charged a suspect Tuesday in the Dec. 10, 2021 fatal shooting of Davon Childs, 34, of Hyattsville, Maryland.

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department arrested a suspect Tuesday in connection with the Dec. 10, 2021 fatal shooting of 34-year-old Davon Childs of Hyattsville, Maryland, according to a police release.

Officers from MPD's First District arrested 44-year-old Dejuan Bell of Northeast and transported him to the Homicide Branch, where he was charged with first degree murder while armed.

Fifth District officers found Childs around 10:06 p.m. on Dec. 10, lying in an apartment building hallway in the 2300 block of 4th Street, Northeast. The officers had been called to the scene for the report of a shooting.

Childs was unconscious and unresponsive and suffering from a gunshot wound. After examining his body, D.C. Fire & EMS personnel determined that he had died. They later transported Childs' body to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner.

Police also discovered a second male victim, who was taken to the hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
