1st Degree Murder Charge Filed In Feb. 8 Fatal Shooting Of DeShawn Francis of Alexandria

D.C. homicide detectives charged a Eugene Williams, 17, in the Feb. 8 fatal shooting of 16-year-old DeShawn Francis of Alexandria.

WASHINGTON, DC — D.C. homicide detectives charged 17-year-old Eugene Williams of Southeast in the Feb. 8 fatal shooting of 16-year-old DeShawn Francis of Alexandria, according to a police release.

The Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Williams on Thursday. He was taken to the Homicide Branch and charged with first degree murder while armed, according to the release.

Francis was found suffering from a gunshot wound inside a vehicle by officers from the Metropolitan Police Department's Seventh District. They'd been dispatched around 8:09 p.m., on Feb. 8, to the Unit block of Chesapeake Street, Southeast for the report of a shooting.

Francis was taken to a nearby hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries, but he died from his injuries on Feb. 11.

MPD is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 for anyone who supplies information that leads to the arrest and conviction of any person responsible for a homicide in the District.
