2 DC Residents Die In Fatal Crashes Monday: Police
D.C. Police detectives are investigating two crashes that killed District residents on Monday.
WASHINGTON, DC — Metropolitan Police Department detectives from the Major Crash Investigations Unit are investigating two separate crashes Monday that resulted in the deaths of two District residents, according to police releases.
A preliminary investigation revealed that the first incident occurred around 10:40 a.m., when a vehicle traveling in the 2800 block of New York Ave., N.E., struck another vehicle. The first vehicle continued on through the intersection of New York Avenue and Bladensburg Road and collided with two other vehicles. D.C. Fire and EMS transported the driver of the first vehicle to a nearby hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
MPD identified the deceased victim as Doris Turner, 73, of Northeast.

Around 9:17 p.m., a vehicle was traveling in the 7000 block of Piney Branch Road, N.E., when it struck a pedestrian. D.C. Fire and EMS determined the victim displaced no signs of life, and his body was transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. The driver of the vehicle remained on the scene.

MPD identified the decedent as Timothy Abbott, 21, of Northwest.
