Updated: 2 Fatal Shootings Investigated By DC Police
Metropolitan Police Department homicide detectives are investigating two recent fatal shootings.

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are investigating two recent fatal shootings, one in Douglass and the other in Benning, according to a police release.
On Sunday, around 10:04 a.m., officers from the Seventh District were flagged down in the 3300 block of 15th Street, S.E., for the report of a shooting. They found an adult male victim suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and EMS transported the victim to an area hospital, but all life-saving efforts failed and he was pronounced dead. Police identified the decedent as Gary Swinson, 34, of Southeast.

On Monday, around 2:05 p.m., officers from the Sixth District responded to the intersection of Minnesota Avenue and Clay Place, Northeast, for the report of a shooting. They found an adult male victim in the 3900 block of Clay Place, N.E., suffering from gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and EMS determined the victim showed no signs of life. He was later transported to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner. Police identified the deceased victim as Senquea Whitley, 27, of Northeast.

MPD released photos of a suspect in this case that were captured on a nearby surveillance camera.
