2 Homicides In Southeast Under Investigation: Police Report
D.C. homicide detectives are investigating two fatal shootings that took place over the weekend in Southeast.

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department are investigating two fatal shootings that took place over the weekend in Southeast, according to police releases.
In the first incident, a citizen flagged down officers from the Seventh District around 12:16 a.m., Saturday, in the 400 block of Mellon Street, S.E., in reference to a shooting. The officers found an adult male inside a residence, suffering from a gunshot wound. D.C. Fire and EMS transported the victim to a nearby hospital for treatment, but all life-saving efforts failed and the victim was pronounced dead.
Police identified the decedent as George Coleman IV, 22, of Southeast.

In the second incident, Seventh District officers were dispatched around 12:35 p.m., Sunday, to the 2600 block of Birney Place, S.E., for the report of the sound of gunshots. They found an adult male suffering from gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and EMS transported the victim to an area hospital, but he was pronounced after all live-saving efforts failed.

MPD identified the deceased victim as Antwon Duncan, 20, of Southeast.
