2 Suspects Charged In 2 Attempted Bank Robberies: DC Police
DC Police arrested two suspects in connection with the attempted robberies of two banks, one in Benning and the other in Brentwood.

WASHINGTON, DC — Metropolitan Police Department detectives from the Criminal Investigations Division arrested two suspects in two separate attempted unarmed bank robberies that took place earlier this week in Brentwood and Benning, according to police releases.
The first attempted robbery occurred Tuesday, March 17, around 6:07 p.m., when a suspect entered a bank in the 900 block of Rhode Island Avenue, N.E., and tried to take money. Unsuccessful in his attempt, he was apprehended by responding officers. MPD arrested Paul Martin, 49, of Northeast, charging him with robbery.

In the second case, officers arrested Brian Thomas, 31, of Southeast, and charged him with robbery in connection with an attempted robbery of the Bank of America in the 3800 block of Minnesota Avenue, N.E. Police say Thomas entered the bank on Wednesday, March 18, around 3:09 p.m., and passed the teller a note demanding money. When the teller refused, Thomas fled the scene and was apprehended by responding officers, according to a police release.
