2nd Degree Murder Charge Filed In 2021 Fatal Shooting Of Nathaniel Martin Of Southeast DC

D.C. homicide detectives charged William Brock with second degree murder while armed in the death of Nathaniel Martin in November 2021.

WASHINGTON, DC — William Brock, 30, of no fixed address was charged Monday with second degree murder while armed in the fatal shooting of 68-year-old Nathaniel Martin of Southeast last November, according to a police release.

Officers from the Metropolitan Police Department's Sixth District were dispatched around 6:05 a.m., on Nov. 15, 2021, to the 1900 block of 14th Street, Southeast for the report of a shooting.

Searching the area, police found Martin and another man suffering from gunshot wounds. One of the victims was found in the 2100 block of 14th Street, Southeast and the other in the 2000 block of Martin Luther King Jr. Avenue, Southeast. Both men were taken to the hospital for treatment, but Martin later succumbed to his injuries and died.

Acting on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant on Monday, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested Brock. He was later charged in Martin's death.

MPD is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 for anyone who supplies information that leads to the arrest and conviction of any person responsible for a homicide in the District.
