2nd Degree Murder Charge Filed In Death Of Northeast Man
D.C. homicide detectives arrested an Oxon Hill, Maryland man Friday in connection with the Sept. 21 fatal shooting of Cimerron Kennedy.
WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives arrested a Maryland man Friday in connection with the Sept. 21 fatal shooting of 29 year-old Cimerron Kennedy, of Northeast, in the Deanwood area, according to a police release.
Around 6:08 p.m., officers from the Sixth District were dispatched to the 3500 block of Jay St., N.E., for the report of a shooting. They found Kennedy, suffering from a gunshot wound. D.C. Fire and EMS transported him to a nearby hospital, but all life-saving efforts failed and he was pronounced dead.
Acting on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant Friday, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested Anthony Jones, 23, of Oxon Hill, Maryland. Police charged him with second degree murder while armed. MPD reported Jones' prior arrest history includes charges of unauthorized use of a vehicle, possession of unregistered ammunition, and possession of a controlled substance. Jones was under the supervision of the Court Services and Offender Supervision Agency for D.C. at the time of his arrest. This case remains under investigation.

MPD is offering a $25,000 reward for anyone who provides information that leads to the arrest and conviction of individuals responsible for any homicide in the District. Police ask anyone with information about the fatal shooting of Kennedy to call 202-727-9099 or submit an anonymous tip by texting 50411.
