2nd Virginia Man With Gun Stopped At Inauguration Checkpoint
A Virginia man was charged with carrying a pistol without a license and possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device.
WASHINGTON, DC — A second Virginia man is facing weapons charges after he was detained at an inauguration checkpoint in D.C. early Sunday morning, according to a Metropolitan Police Department report.
Police say that Guy Berry, 22, of Gordonsville, Virginia approached an inauguration checkpoint around 12:15 a.m., in 200 block of Massachusetts Avenue, Northeast. While Berry was asking a member of the National Guard a question. MPD officers working a traffic detail noticed that he was carrying a handgun in plain view, in a holster. They apprehended Berry without incident.
MPD charged Berry with carrying a pistol without a license, possession of a large capacity ammunition feeding device, and possession of unregistered ammunition.

This was the second weapons-related arrest made over the weekend at an inauguration checkpoint in D.C. On Friday night, U.S. Capitol Police stopped Wesley Allen Beeler, 31, of Front Royal, Virginia, at a checkpoint on North Capitol Street and E Street. When Beeler presented a non-government issued inauguration credential, officers observed a handgun in plain sight inside his vehicle.
MPD arrested Beeler and charged him with with carrying a pistol without a license, possession of an unregistered firearm, and possession of unregistered ammunition.
