3 Charged In Fatal Shooting Of Northwest DC Man
D.C. Police arrested three suspects in connection with a fatal shooting that took place Wednesday in the Carver/Langston area of the city.
WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department arrested three suspects in connection with a fatal shooting that took place Wednesday afternoon in the Carver/Langston area, according to a police release.
Around 4:07 p.m., officers from the Fifth District responded to the 1800 block of Maryland Avenue, N.E., after hearing the sound of gunshots. They found an unconscious adult male, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and EMS transported the victim to a nearby hospital, but all life-saving efforts failed and he was pronounced dead.
MPD identified the decedent as Devonte Speight, 26, of Northwest.

Later that same day, officers arrested Derrick Kearney, 24, of Southeast; Daquan Anglin, 24, of Laurel, Maryland; and a 16 year-old male, of Southeast, and charged them with first degree murder while armed (felony murder).
Members of the U.S. Park Police and the Metro Transit Police Department assisted MPD in this case, which remains under investigation.
