3 Cool Places to Count Down to the New Year in DC

Want to get outside the house and celebrate the New Year in D.C.? Here's a few good spots to do it.

WASHINGTON, DC — We're about to close the books on 2016, and there ain't nothing like a New Year's Eve party to ring in the new year. The obvious place to celebrate the arrival of 2017 would be Times Square in New York City, but if you can't make it there and would prefer to stay home this weekend, there's a few places in D.C. offering some New Year's specials.

Bangkok Joe's, 3000 K Street NW

This Georgetown Thai eatery, which just relaunched earlier this year and has scored 4 out of 5 stars on Yelp, will offer a four-course prix fixe dinner for $55 per person on New Year's Eve, and the a la carte dinner menu will also be available. The restaurant will serve up champagne to guests who are there to welcome the new year, and the location on the Waterfront can't be beat.

In the mood to be in downtown D.C. instead? The Hamilton Hotel on 14th Street is offering a New Year's Eve dinner from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. at $90 per person. That price includes a "special celebration" following the dinner including a live feed of the ball drop in New York and live entertainment. The DJ will be spinning until 2 a.m. and you'll get an "endless" champagne bar with your dinner.
