3 Fatal Shootings Under Investigation By DC Police

D.C. Police are investigating three homicides in connection with two recent shooting incidents.

WASHINGTON, DC — Metropolitan Police Department homicide detectives are investigating three recent fatal shootings, one in Barry Farm and two in District Heights, according to police releases.

Around 1:02 p.m., on Sunday, officers from the Seventh District to the report of a shooting in the 2500 block of Elvans Road, S.E. They discovered an adult male, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and EMS transported the victim to a nearby hospital, but all life-saving efforts failed and he was pronounced dead. Police identified the decedent as Richard Mitchell, 25, of Oxon Hill, Maryland.

On Monday, May 25, around 6:21 p.m., officers from the Third District responded to the 1400 block of Fairmont St., N.W., for the report of the sound of gunshots. Police found two adult males, suffering from gunshot wounds. D.C Fire and EMS transported both victims to an area hospital for treatment, but one of the victims, Christopher Beckwith Jr., 25, of Northwest, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

The second victim, who was being treated for life-threatening injuries and was in critical condition, died on Sunday, May 30. Police identified him as Willie Leon Brown Jr., 19, of Northwest.
