7 People Shot To Death In District Over The Weekend: Police

From Friday through Sunday, seven people were shot to death in Washington, D.C., Metro Police said.

WASHINGTON, DC —From Friday through Sunday, sevenpeople were shot to death in Washington, D.C., Metro Police said. Rewards are being offered in the cases to help authorities arrest and convict the shooters.

Here's what police have released about the incidents so far.

  • Paul Lewis Butler, 58, of Southeast, DC., was found shot to death about 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, July 12, in the 3900 block of S Street, Southeast. Butler was found inside a residence suffering from trauma.
  • Shanika Williams, 28, of Northeast, DC, was killed about 4 a.m. Sunday, July 12, in the 800 block of 19th Street, Northeast. Officers who responded to a report of a shooting found her suffering from a gunshot wound. Williams was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • Police say Jose Yaxon Cuc, 45, of Northwest, DC, was found dead about 6 p.m. Friday, July 10, in the 4900 block of North Capitol Street, Northeast. Officers found him unconscious and suffering from a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
  • William Charles Dismuke, 40, of no fixed address, was killed Friday, July 10, in the 1100 block of New Hampshire Avenue, Northwest. At 6:22 p.m., police received a report of an unconscious man inside a hotel room, suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services determined Dismuke was dead.
  • Evrett Harris, 19, of Southeast, DC., was shot to death about 7: 40 p.m. Friday, July 10, in the 2200 block of Newton Street, Northeast. He was found unconscious inside a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound. Harris was taken to a local hospital for treatment, where he was pronounced dead.
  • Detectives have not yet released the name of a homicide victim from a shooting about 6 p.m. on Friday, July 10, in the 4900 block of North Capitol Street, Northeast. A man suffering from a gunshot wound was pronounced dead at the scene. The decedent’s identity is being withheld pending next of kin notification.
  • A homicide occurred on Friday, July 10, in the 700 block of 21st Street, Northeast. About 5:18 p.m., officers received a report of a shooting and found an unconscious woman suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services took her to a local hospital for treatment, where she was pronounced dead. The decedent has been identified as 45-year-old Tamika Jones, of Northeast, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department offers a reward of up to $25,000 to anyone that provides information which leads to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for any homicide committed in the District of Columbia. Anyone with information about this case is asked to call the police at 202-727-9099. Additionally, anonymous information may be submitted to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by sending a text message to 50411.
