7-Year-Old Boy Injured in Metrobus Collision in DC
The driver of the van that collided with the bus was cited in the accident, which sent 11 people to the hospital.

WASHINGTON, DC — The driver of a van that collided with a Metrobus in Northeast D.C. on Sunday has received two citations for the accident, which resulted in the hospitalization of a 7-year-old boy and 10 others, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
The accident happened at the intersection of Minnesota Avenue and Hayes Street in Northeast. Police say 16 people were injured, with 11 people suffering injuries that required hospitalization but were not characterized as life-threatening.
One of the victims was a 7-year-old boy, who also had to be taken to the hospital with non-specified injuries. A WJLA report claimed he had been thrown forward and his head struck a pole, but an MPD spokesperson could not confirm that.

The driver of the van was cited for "failure to keep in proper lane" and "failure to control speed to avoid a collision," according to the MPD spokesperson.
