9th Arrest Made In 2018 Fatal Shooting Of 10-Year-Old DC Girl

WASHINGTON, DC — Homicide detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department have made an additional arrest in the 2018 fatal shooting of 10 year-old Makiyah Wilson, of Northeast, according to a police release.

Around 8 p.m., on July 16, 2018, officers from the Sixth District responded to the 300 block of 53rd Street, N.E., for the report of the sounds of gunshots. They found Wilson, an adult woman, and an adult man suffering from gunshot wounds. D.C. Fire and EMS transported the victims to area hospitals. All efforts to save Wilson's life failed and she was pronounced dead. Two other adult men sought treatment at local hospitals for gunshot wounds.

Acting on a D.C. Superior Court arrest warrant, U.S. Marshalls on Wednesday transported Isaiah Murchison, 20, of Southeast, to MPD's Homicide Branch, where he was charged with first degree murder while Armed (premeditated).

Murchison is the ninth individual charged in connection with Wilson's death. The details of the other arrests are:

  • A 20-year-old adult male of Southeast was arrested on Aug. 25, 2018, and charged with first degree murder while armed.
  • A 20-year-old adult male of Southeast was arrested on Aug. 27, 2018, and charged with first degree murder while armed.
  • A 23-year-old adult male of Fort Washington, Maryland, was arrested on Oct. 24, 2018, and charged with first degree murder while armed.
  • Members of the Major Violators Section, Fugitive Unit transported a 24 year-old adult male of Southeast, from D.C. Jail to the Homicide Branch, on Nov. 18, 2018, charging him with first degree murder while armed (premeditated).
  • School Resource Officers and members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force arrested a 16-year-old adult male of Northwest, on Nov. 16, 2018, charging him as an adult with first degree murder while armed (premeditated).
  • A 25-year-old adult female, of Southeast, was arrested on Nov. 20, 2018, and charged with obstructing justice.
  • A 19-year-old adult male, of Northwest, was arrested on Dec. 7, 2018, and charged with first degree murder while armed.
  • Members of the Major Violators Section, Fugitive Unit transported 26-year-old adult male, of Southeast, to the Homicide Branch on July 15, 2019, where he was charged with first degree murder while armed (premeditated).
