WASHINGTON, DC — After a draft opinion from the Supreme Court on overturning Roe v. Wade was leaked, abortion rights rallies in DC and across the U.S. are planned Saturday.

Saturday's event in DC will start on the northeast side of the Washington Monument around 12 p.m. Participants will then march to the Supreme Court at 2 p.m.

The Bans Off Our Bodies rallies across the U.S. are in response to the Supreme Court potentially deciding to overturn the 1973 Roe v. Wade decision, according to a Center for Reproductive Rights news release. In early May, Politico leaked the draft majority opinion in the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case, which the Center for Reproductive Rights is involved in.

A news release from the Supreme Court said the draft opinion is "authentic" but is not a final decision.

The rallies are being organized by Planned Parenthood Federation of America, Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Women’s March, MoveOn, UltraViolet, the Liberate Abortion Coalition, and other progressive organizations. Rep. Barbara Lee (D-Calif.), who had an abortion before Roe v. Wade, will be among the speakers, according to NBC Washington.

"Twenty six states could move quickly to ban abortion, meaning millions of people might live without local access to abortion," the event description reads. "The people in your community and across the country deserve the power and freedom to make their own personal reproductive health care decisions."

Since the leaked draft opinion became public, there have been protests in front of the Supreme Court, as well as protests outside several justices' homes. There have been protests outside Justices Samuel Alito and Amy Coney Barrett's Fairfax County homes and Justices John Roberts and Brett Kavanaugh's homes in Chevy Chase, Maryland.

As reported by NBC Washington, Saturday's DC abortion rights rally could see up to 17,000 people. Metropolitan Police encourage drivers to avoid the downtown area and take Metrorail when possible due to potential delays. Residents can follow the DC Police Traffic Twitter for updates.
