Adams Morgan Apartment Building to House Works From Local Artists

WASHINGTON, DC — The Silva and Latela Curatorial are planning to open a new gallery in mid-August inside the Adams Morgan apartment building.

The gallery, The Silva Gallery x Latela Curatorial, will feature works by local artists inside The Silva building at 1630 Columbia Road in D.C. The first residents are expected to move into The Silva by mid-August.

The Silva Gallery x Latela Curatorial will host solo and group exhibitions, which will rotate on a regular basis and be available for sale through the gallery.

Anne Marchand, a local artist and recipient of an Artist Fellowship 2020 from the D.C. Commission on the Arts and Humanities, will be the first to display her works. Eight of her newest abstract paintings will be displayed on the walls of The Silva Gallery.

Developed by EastBanc and Mitsui Fudosan America Inc. and managed by Bozzuto, The Silva features 172 apartments, ranging from studios to two bedrooms, including 10 penthouse suites.

“When we were designing the building, we knew we wanted the lobby to be an engaging space to gather,” said Hope Richardson, vice president of development at EastBanc. “We want to provide opportunities for D.C.’s art community and to foster appreciation for the creativity in our city.”

Latela Curatorial is a D.C.-based art advisory studio that specializes in curatorial services for art collections.

Gene Davis, Jeremy Flick, Stephen Benedicto and Sara Dittrich are some of the 12 local artists in The Silva’s permanent art collection.

The art gallery is located in the building's reception area and will be open to the public Monday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m.
