Al Pacino, James Taylor Among Those to be Honored at Kennedy Center
President Obama will be on hand for the Kennedy Center honors this December.

The Kennedy Center has announced the five individuals and groups who will receive the 2016 Kennedy Center Honors and, as usual, it's quite a star-studded lineup.
Legendary actor Al Pacino, rock band The Eagles, musician James Taylor, gospel and blues singer Mavis Staples and Argentine pianist Martha Argerich have been chosen to be honored at the 39th annual national celebration of the arts at the Kennedy Center on Dec. 4, an event that will be broadcast Dec. 27 on CBS, according to a Kennedy Center statement.
"The Kennedy Center Honors celebrates the spectacular talents of artists whose brilliance has left a lasting impact on our society," Kennedy Center Chairman David M. Rubenstein said in the statement. President Debroah F. Rutter added that it was a "humbling experience" to reflect on the "powerful commitments these artists have made to their crafts as well as the cultural contributions they have made over the course of their illustrious careers."

The honorees will be seated with President Obama and the First Lady during the event.
The show will be produced by Ricky Kirshner and Glenn Weiss of White Cherry Entertainment, and leading performers from all around the world will be on hand to salute the stars on the Kennedy Center Opera House stage.
