Al Sharpton is Taking on Donald Trump in DC
The fiery activist is planning a major rally on the National Mall days ahead of Trump's inauguration.
WASHINGTON, DC — Rev. Al Sharpton is hosting a big rally ahead of the inauguration of President-elect Donald Trump, who will take over for Barack Obama on Jan. 20.
The Washington Post reports that Sharpton is bringing together a number of black activist groups for the "We Shall Not be Moved" rally on Jan. 14 in D.C. Sharpton's National Action Network will be joined by the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), the National Urban League and the Black Women's Roundtable. In addition, family members of prominent individuals who have been killed such as Trayvon Martin and Eric Garner will be in attendance.
The rally was intentionally set on the first day of the Martin Luther King Jr. weekend, according to the report. It will begin in front of the Washington Monument and march along Independence Avenue until it gets to the Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial at West Potomac Park.

Trump has been heavily criticized for his comments that many perceive as racially tinged and discriminatory. He faces numerous rallies in opposition to his presidency both before, after and during his inauguration on Jan. 20.
