Alexandria Man Fatally Shot In Michigan Park Neighborhood: DC Police

D.C. homicide detectives are investigating the fatal shooting of 26-year-old Zekariya Elmi of Alexandria in Michigan Park on Monday.

WASHINGTON, DC — Zekariya Elmi, 26, of Alexandria was fatally shot Monday night in the Michigan Park neighborhood in D.C., according to a police release.

Elmi was found inside a vehicle suffering from a gunshot wound around 11:35 p.m., by Metropolitan Police Department. Fourth District officers were called to the 5000 block of South Dakota Avenue, Northeast, for the report of a traffic accident and shooting.

Elmi was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, but all lifesaving efforts failed and he was pronounced dead.

MPD is currently offering a reward of up to $25,000 for anyone who supplies information that leads to the arrest and conviction of any person responsible for a homicide in the District.
