All DC Road Work Will Cease for Nearly 2 Weeks in January

DDOT has announced that they are shutting down from Jan. 13-24 for MLK Day and the Inauguration.

WASHINGTON, DC — The D.C. Department of Transportation will halt all construction activities from Jan. 13-24 for Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the Inauguration.

MLK Day will take place on Monday, Jan. 16, and the Inauguration of President Donald Trump is set for Jan. 20. As a result, DDOT has decided to simply suspend all road work beginning Friday, Jan. 13 at noon and continuing through Tuesday, Jan. 24, the agency said in a statement.

"Lane closures will not be allowed for non-emergency work on the roadways and sidewalks within the District’s right of way. This includes manhole access," the statement reads. "Due to strict security requirements, all construction sites and heavy equipment must be secured during this suspension. Crews should take proactive measures to restrict and secure all worksites during this time."
