1. 1 Officer Shot During Gunfire At White House Correspondents' Dinner: Trump (patch.com) — Residents in Washington, DC are learning more about a dramatic shooting during the White House Correspondents’ Dinner at the Washington Hilton, where President Trump and other top officials were swiftly evacuated. Authorities say a 31-year-old suspected lone gunman from California was subdued, one officer survived a close-range shot thanks to a bulletproof vest, and security remains extremely tight as the investigation continues.

Prosecutors say he targeted residents in the District, and he now faces deportation after serving his sentence.    

4. D.C. United scores 2 late goals to rally past Orlando City (statenews.net) — D.C. United fans in Washington, D.C., finally saw a home win as the club scored twice late, including a 90th-minute header, to beat Orlando City 3-2 on a chilly Saturday night. The victory snapped a long home slump and capped a week where United suddenly found its scoring touch despite missing top scorer Tai Baribo.
