The Mt. Pleasant Artists Collective presents its annual Make It! Mt. Pleasant Spring Market on Sunday, April 26 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. More than 60 artists and artisans will fill Lamont Plaza and line Mt. Pleasant Street, offering pottery, paintings, home décor, jewelry and other handmade items. A craft table will be set up to make cards for hospitalized children, Bancroft Elementary will present musical performances, and two dozen restaurants will be open with a virtual United Nations of cuisines. Come enjoy all the creativity Mt Pleasant has to offer and find the perfect handmade gift just in time for Mother’s Day. The event is free and open to all.

Montahj Social is partnering with Mahjong United to introduce Traditional (Hong Kong–style) Chinese Mahjong through a series of beginner lessons and social play sessions.

Led by Jennie Mak, a community-based mahjong educator in the DC area, these gatherings approach mahjong as both a game and a cultural practice centered on learning, connection, and shared play.

Beginner lessons are designed for those new to the game or in need of a refresher, covering foundational rules and guided gameplay. Social play sessions welcome all experience levels, offering a relaxed environment to build confidence, practice strategy, and connect with others.

Beginner Lessons:
Learn the fundamentals of Traditional (Hong Kong–style) Chinese Mahjong with guided instruction and gameplay.
Cost: $65 per person

Social Play Sessions:
Open to all levels. Includes 3 hours of gameplay, light bites, and all materials. Instructors available for support.
Cost: $45 per person

Better Together is breaking down employment barriers by hosting a series of background-friendly job fairs across the country as part of its Nationwide Days of Second Chances. In Washington, D.C., a job fair will be held Thursday, April 23 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with Anacostia River Church at the DC Dream Center, 2826 Q St. SE.&nbsp; 
To support job seekers who are faced with challenges to re-entering the workforce, Better Together’s Days of Second Chances brings churches, volunteers, businesses and nonprofits together to host a coordinated job fair that features background-friendly employers and provides resources including free one-on-one job coaching sessions to review resumes and interviewing skills, clothing and haircuts. Child care is also available for job seekers with children.

ICA Language Services (ICA), a family-owned, woman-led small business based in Arlington, is celebrating its 40th anniversary, marking decades of supporting the U.S. military and diplomatic community through language training and testing. Founded in April 1986 as Inlingua Foreign Language Center, a 6-classroom language school, ICA expanded under the leadership of Deidre Doyle, an entrepreneur with a background in organizational management who joined the company the same year. As a military spouse, she had developed a deep understanding of military organizations and culture, helping shape ICA into a trusted provider of language training and testing for military professionals. Doyle became a partner in 1993 and sole owner in 2009, when she changed the name to ICA Language Services. Today, ICA operates a 60+ classroom schoolhouse in Rosslyn and has delivered nearly five million hours of language instruction and more than 30,000 language assessments across 120+ languages. ICA also provides training on military bases throughout the US and abroad. The company is now led by President and CEO Lexie Casey, Doyle’s daughter, who joined ICA in 2009 after a decade in government contracting. Casey became a partner in 2014 and assumed day-to-day leadership in 2015, when Doyle transitioned to Chair of the Board.
